Mother Earth.

Happy Earth Day. My minor contribution today was shopping at Target using this, I also picked up another one because seriously how many times do you make it out of Target with just one bag of goodies? We're doing well with our recycling program, we participate in Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky program and our new washer/dryer set is energy efficient (HE), but I'm sure there is so much more we could do. Other ideas on my going green list include: researching composting (super intimidating), donating our old cell phones to a charity for reuse, replacing all light bulbs with CFL bulbs and buying a reusable water bottle and filling it with our Brita filter - no more plastic water bottles - I'm eyeing this one. Do you have any ideas that I should add to my list?

All I can say is that I need to start to recycle! Weber and Salt Lake counties have a pretty good recycling program, but Davis county doesn't really have anything (well at least that I know of)! You need to give me some pointers!

A friend suggested contacting companies to have them quit sending unwanted advertisements and catalogs in the mail. I was surprised how easy it was. There is also a website that will help: http://www.catalogchoice.org/

Kristin and I also did the "opt out" to stop receiving credit card offers in the mail (half for environmental reasons, half to avoid identity theft). The number is 1-888-5-OPTOUT. Now we need to do better with recycling.
